Dear Weaubleau Community:
We would like to update you on Weaubleau R-3’s plan with respect to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. Our district is taking this situation very seriously. We are in constant communication with our local health department, and we continue to monitor information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MODHSS) in order to keep current on this rapidly changing situation.
The following are some common questions and answers that we are hearing from our patrons:
- Will the school district close schools?
- Currently, Weaubleau R-3 plans to be in school this week. (Tuesday, March 17- Friday, March 20) At this point our state and local Health Department public health officials have not recommended closing schools. We are in close communication with them and will follow their directives moving forward.
- If schools are closed, how will students continue to access their education?
- The administration and teachers are currently working on an Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI) at each grade level in the event they are needed.
- Are health-related absences due to COVID-19 concerns excused from school?
- We want to honor that families know what is best for their children and we will respect your decision to keep your child home from school. Some children and family members may be at higher risk for severe illness because of underlying health conditions or a weakened immune system. While absences from school MUST be marked in our student information system, we will work with families to verify these absences--please notify the school if you will be keeping him or her home.
- How will Weaubleau R-3 keep families and staff informed regarding coronavirus?
- Any district updates will be conveyed through regular district communication channels--including text, voice messaging, the district website and social media.
- What is the protocol for cleaning and disinfecting schools?
- We prioritize cleaning common and high-traffic areas multiple times a day. All efforts will be made to keep students healthy and safe.
- When should a student or staff member stay home?
- If students or staff experience fever of 100 degrees or higher, cough and/or difficulty breathing, the CDC recommends they should stay home from school and contact their health care provider immediately.
- Where can I go for more information?
- Cdc.gov
- Health.mo.gov
- The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services opened a statewide public hotline for citizens needing guidance regarding COVID-19 that is operated by medical professionals and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The phone number is 887-435-8411.
We will continue to work hard to achieve our mission while ensuring the safety of our students and their families. Thank you for your continued help and patience as we navigate this situation.
Sincerely,
Eric Wilken
Superintendent
